Account Notes not working

I have recently upgraded CRM from 2013 to 2016 SP1 and I am having trouble with the "Notes & Activities" section under accounts. No one is able to create new notes (the option simply isn't there) and I am even an Admin with all of the rights and I still cant create notes either. I have downloaded the Dynamics 365 app and I can create notes in there, but when I try to do it on the computer there is no button anywhere to create new notes. Has anyone seen this before or know how to fix it? Please need help!

    Are you saying that the notes tab is not there at all or you saying you cant see the create option?

    Can you share a screenshot plz

    CRM-no-notes.PNGThe Notes tab is there, but there is no way to add a new note, no + sign, no box that lets you type in anything, nothing like that. It just shows you that there are no notes and wont let you add anything.

    Hi, sometimes the upgrade will amend some bits in CRM, please go to the security role and check if you still have the right create and write access to the Notes entity in the Core Records tab

    It's a bug.  I've sent MS Support a ticket concerning this issue, but I'd recommend you do as well.  They haven't yet sent me a solution response.

    Edit: Mine was for Dynamics 365, so I'm not 100% if it's the same issue.  Are you able to create notes on a brand new record at all?  That's how it is for me.  I can't add new notes to existing records but I could edit and delete them.

    I have the System Admin rights, and every single row is all green for me on the security roles page. So unfortunately its not that.

    Yes! that's the exact same for me! I cant add new notes to existing or create new notes to accounts that have no notes yet, but if there is already an existing note I am able to edit and delete it. Also mine was also for Dynamics 365. The weird part is if you download the app and use the Dynamics 365 app, it lets you add notes that way. Please let me know if they ever get back to you on a solution!     Just to make sure you have tried everything I suggest to remove the Notes from the form(then publish it) and add a fresh Notes section back to the form.

    I think you are using old Information Form to create Notes. You can only edit notes on Information Form. To create new notes you should use Account Form or new Main Form.

    You'll have to Save a record before adding Notes to it.

    I wasn't able to reproduce it for my account form.  But I showed my issue to support (mine is specifically with portal comments, not sure if it's in other areas of my environments) and they said "this is a recently discovered issue. The only workaround to add notes is to enable legacy form rendering engine. This is supposed to fix in 8.2.1...in upcoming months. "

    EDIT: They also said that they'll get back to me if they find a different workaround.
