Source of Default Financial Dimensions on a Project Timesheet

My client is trying to default the financial dimensions on a project timesheet from a combination of the worker record and the project.  My client has 4 key financial dimensions:  business unit, department, physical site, and project ID.  On the worker record financial dimensions my client has populated business unit, department, and physical site.  For "admin" projects my client has created (vacation, for example), only the financial dimension project ID has been populated.  When the worker creates a timesheet and charges time to an "admin" (vacation) project, only the project ID from the admin project is populating in the timesheet.  The business unit, department, and physical site are not being populated from the worker record.  Why?  Is there something I can change to make this happen?  I don't see any config to influence this.  My client wants the "admin" project codes to be used by everyone in the US (again, vacation for example), so there aren't any other default financial dimensions populated like business unit since there are many business units that the workers belong to.

This is in AX 2012 R2 CU7.

    Hi Witold,

    Did you try a search on LCS already? Yes, there is a hotfix available.

    "KB 2980766 Related project financial dimension is not updated on Enterprise Portal when changing the project ID associated to timesheet line previously inserted and saved"

    Please create a new question in future as you are slightly changing the topic of the original question.

    Hello Howard,

    according to your problem - did you use Enterprise Portal for registering time in Project Timesheets ? We tried that but when you change project in the line - financial dimensions are not refreshed :(

    Have you heard about the issue and (perhaps) some MS hot-fix ?

    Thanks in advance :)

    Hi Howard,

    Like Ludwig mentioned this is not possible to achieve without a customization. We have done some customizations on the timesheets in the past to have it defaulted from both.

    The next coding can be used in the method initFromProjTable on the table TSTimesheetLine:

    this.DefaultDimension = DimensionDefaultingService::serviceMergeDefaultDimensions(_projTable.DefaultDimension,HcmEmployment::findByWorkerLegalEntity(this.Worker,CompanyInfo::findDataArea(this.dataAreaId).RecId).DefaultDimension);

    Please test carefully. In a separate environment first. The result is that the dimensions form the project are used. The ones which are not filled will be defaulted from the worker (if available on the worker).

    Hello Howard,

    The behaviour you describe is "AX Standard" as the project financial dimensions that you setup overwrite the ones that you setup at the worker level. There are only two things that you can possibly do (a) enter / correct the financial dimensions in the timesheet form manually or (b) make a system modification. With (b) you have to be careful as changes in the financial dimension framework can have wideranging effects.

    All the best,

    Ludwig
