Hi,

I wanna move some reports from one sys data to another so that I can centralize the sys data folder to be accessed over the network.

Is it possible without recreating of new reports.

Export the reports to a tdb file, then import them into the desired location.  I just ran through this with a client a couple of weeks ago - instructions to export your report building blocks to a tdb file can be located at the post below:

Harry's suggestion is the cleanest way but you also can do this:

    1) Copy the entire FRX folder currently containing the IODATA and SYSDATA folder to the server.

    2) Have everyone out of FRX and then one user go in.

    3) Go to Admin=>SYSDATA in FRX and change the location to this new location. Make sure you check the box to update all users.

    4) FRX will now exit but when you go back in it will point to the new location.

The downside with this is now there will be a setting that says FRX has been moved. Folks often get trapped with this because they try the move again years later and they wonder why FRX keeps reverting back to its old location.

It is always a good idea to export your spec sets. In the even of a total loss as long as you have that file you can always reinstall FRX and have your reports.

We prefer to use the method noted by Harry, as in the past we simply grabbed the folder and forced the move, as Richard notes, but got caught later when trying to do update.

So, we use a best of both - we do the export and then we create the new location by copying the folder, then we 'import' from the old location.

    Seems to work for us.
