Convenience Fee (surcharge) for credit card tenders

Is it possible to configure a surcharge to apply only in the case of credit card tender types?

We would like to apply a surcharge as a convenience fee for using credit cards for making payment.

Is this possible ? If so, what is the general scope of making this happen?

    I have written an addin that can accomplish this.  Wrote about 6 months ago.  You get the option for the percent you want to charge.  It uses a custom item to charge the fee.  It also uses a custom button on the side and a manual process due to the ruling that visa/mc debit cards can not be charged.  

    This could be altered to fit your specific needs.
