Login errors on Monday

Hello,

I have a client that logs out of GP, and restarts their computer each night. The log out and restart on Friday, and then log in on Monday. Every Monday he gets the following errors when logging in:

An open operation on table 'ASI_riggers_MEM' failed because the path does not exist. It does that for WDC_Field_security_tag_TEMP as well.

He tried to open smartlist and gets the same path does not exist for ASI_Explorer_Favorites. He also gets an unhandled script exception: Illega address for field 'ASI_FAvorite_Dict_ID' in script 'ASI_Explrer ASI_ExplorerTreeView_CHG' script teminated.

I have cleared the temp table, and repaired GP. I planned on having them restart the SQL service to clear temp there during their next maintenance, and make sure they setup their AV per the KB article. Are these appropriate steps, or is there something else I should try first?

  • RE: Login errors on Monday

Normally this type of error is related to SQL connectivity issues where the SQL connection to Dynamics GP is being dropped for whatever reason. Dynamics GP requires a constant connection with SQL and we shouldn't see it dropped unless the SQL service is being restarted or the SQL server is being rebooted.

The below blog has information on some things we've seen potentially cause issues such as this:

SQL Connectivity Errors seen in Microsoft Dynamics GP

Also, make sure the antivirus application is not actively scanning the Dynamics GP directory or Dynamics.exe itself. In fact, we recommend setting up an exclusion for this directory and file, as well as any shared directories that may be holding forms and reports dictionary files for Dynamics GP.

It may also be a good test to do testing to see if the issue is related more to the workstation or the user's Windows profile, by having other users login to this user's machine and vice versa. Depending on whether the issue follows the machine or user, would also determine any further troubleshooting steps.

    Thanks
