Question to Dynamics CRM Instance Web API

Hi all,

I work for a retail company and recently I try to link my company CRM to MS excel for data analysis; however, I found out the Instance web API of my Org CRM was not quite similar to the usual one I found on the internet (The attached pics) and eventually can't link to excel for data source due to "The remote name could not be resolved"
Can anyone suggest at what documentation where I should start looking to figure out the issue?

Any help would be appreciated, and thanks in advance.

-Vic

    Hi Vic,

From the second attached pic, it seems that you are using Dynamics CRM, and do you host it on your own or company server?

While the web API URL in the first pic is for Dynamics 365(online), which is online version.

I am not sure whether excel is able to connect to CRM, because I can only find connectors for online service.

Try to connect to your CRM with "From OData Feed" and Organization Data Service endpoint instead.

    HI,

Power BI Desktop is another tool which can be used for Data analysis. And it has OOB CRM connector to connect to Dynamics CRM instance.

    Hi Clofly,

Thank you for the information. Yes, I host it on my company server, and later I find out we do not have a Dynamics 365 account except the CRM one, which leading to an invalid Dynamic API name. I think I am going to get another way to work on my analysis.

    Anyway. Thanks for the advice!

    Hi Bipin,

Sounds like PowerBI will be something I should consider. I will definitely take a look at it for my analysis work. Thanks for the suggestion though!
