Hi,
I'm looking for a security role that can be assigned to users that can handle the access in D365. An out-of-the box kind of role that only gives them the privileges to handle the access. Not an Admin access.
Is there an already existing role for this or do I need to create a new one?
Thanks,
Hi Filippa,
in addition to my first answer - once the user has access to the Dynamics 365 Environment, there are lots of predefined out of the box security roles available - based on the Dynamics 365 CE Module that you have installed.
To assign one of the predefined security roles to a specific user, you need to open the Power Platform Admin Center https://aka.ms/ppac
Select the environment and click on Settings in the command bar
Open the section Users + permissions and select Security roles to see all the available security roles that are available.
You can copy an existing Security role and the Edit the copy, so the permissions are matching your requirements
Once you have found or edited an security that matches your requirements, you can navigate back to Settings --> Users + Permissions and select Users
You will see the users in this list that are matching the access criteria of my previous post. Select the user that you want to provide permissions with a security role and once the user is selected the command bar changes. Select Manage security roles to assign a role to this user. In the right Sidepanel you can select one or multiple security roles that you want to assign to this user and then click Save
Hi Filippa,
Access to D365 is handled already by default.
1) Users that have O365 Global Administrator or Power Platform Administrator Role have assigned in admin.microsoft.com have access to the environments
2) As a normal user, you need a Dynamics 365 or Power Platform license assigned to access environments
3) which environment can be accessed can be handled by Security Groups. Therefore you can add a security group to each environment and by membership of the user to security groups, you can specify which user is allowed to access which environment.
Navigate to https://aka.ms/ppac (Power Platform Admin Center) (1), select the environment (2 ), click on edit details (4) and in the sidebar you can add a security group for this environment (5).
Clicking on save will limit the access to this specific environment only to users that are in the security group and have a license assigned.
If no security group is assigned, every user has access to this environment.
4) what the user is allowed to do in the environment is then defined by the permissions in the security roles that are assigned to the user in each environment
Best regards,
Joergen
