Hello,

There are Business Central extensions whose names start with "_Exclude..." and are not visible in Extension page in Business Central.

What are those and what "exclude" mean here?

Please advise.

Thank you.

    Thank you.

I have already read your blog (in fact, I very often visit your blog site).

I should have made my question clearer. I would like to know why Microsoft names apps like "_Exclude..." and what do they "Exclude" this app from? "Exclude from the base app"?

    Hi, thank you for reading.
I'm sorry I also don't know why. Maybe it has something to do with SmartList Designer.  Due to some performance issues?

    Info from Microsoft Yammer:

Ah, yes. "_Exclude..." might mean that Microsoft is not yet ready to release it as part of the Base app.

And this SmartList Designer information was also something I needed. Thank you very much!

I am not sure why Microsoft chose to add "hidden" apps like this. The suggestion on Yammer (in this post) is that they are core functionalities that should not be uninstalled.

However, for OnPrem situations, I find these hidden apps are very cumbersome. If you don't know these apps exist (and which ones exist) in an OnPrem environment, you can easily forget to update them.

What are the best practices with regard to these apps and their maintenance in an OnPrem situation? Does anyone know?
