Hi,

Our team is trying to get acquainted to the new look and functionality of the web client of D365 BC.

It would be of great help if we have some inputs on how the following features which were available in the older thick clients are now handled in the web client:

  • Export PO/SO/Journal to Excel

The purchase / sales order lines could be copied to an excel sheet using the copy rows function in the thick client.

  • How to Copy/Paste data into document/journal from Excel

This was another feature in the thick client where excel row (subject to format being adhered to ) the user could copy and paste rows from Excel into a document.

  • How to use Notes to send an information to other users, like previous versions has

The previous thick client versions permitted the user to send notes to other users.

It would truly help us to know where the above features are found in the new web client.  Any inputs or guidance on the above queries will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have the same question (0)

My bad!! I was not clear in my earlier post.

For point number 1, the thick client allowed Copy Rows on Sales Order lines, now it permits the selection of the lines but there is no provision to open the lines in Excel. Same for other documents like Purchase Order etc.

For point number 2, again pasting Excel data into documents does not have provision in the form itself. It permits pasting from Excel in areas like Distribution Locations --> Related - Distrib Location Tables

Is there similar functionality available in Sales / Purchase Order lines? This was again a solid feature in the thick client days.

Third point is about the feature of internal notes, a user could send notes to another user on a thick client from the dashboard or from a document. This is not visible in the Notes section which is more for comments. In other words, in 2018 it used to help send a note by typing the message in a text box and the user could select another user from a dropdown and click Send. How is this managed on the web client?

Hope this is a little more clear. Thanks.

I have checked this link before but it does not really help. Have you tried pasting in to a Sales Order line area on the browser?

Copy/Paste might not be available on all pages and documents indeed. You can suggest this as an idea here:

Sending notes is no longer possible, same principle:
