Hello All,

Recently i have got a dependency error during solution Import. The dependency error is due to this managed solution "Businessprocess(1.0.0.0)" that exists in source organization but not in the target org.

Stuck with below.

1) Not able to import the managed solution in Target Org

2) " Add to use business process" Option does not work in target org.

3) Neither get rid of this solution from Source Org.

Please let me know if anyone got the same dependency error and solved the same.

Appreciate your quick response.

Regards

Shalini

    Hello Shalini,

You've hit a common and frustrating issue with Dynamics 365 solution deployments: a dependency error due to a missing managed solution ("Businessprocess(1.0.0.0)") in the target organization. Let's break down why this happens and how to resolve it.

    Understanding the Problem:

    • Dependency Errors:

      • Dynamics 365 solutions rely on other components (entities, workflows, business processes, etc.).
      • If a solution you're trying to import depends on a component that's missing in the target environment, you'll get a dependency error.

    • "Businessprocess(1.0.0.0)":

      • This is the managed solution that's missing in your target organization.
      • It likely contains business process flows (BPFs) that are referenced by other components in your solution.

    • "Add to use business process" Not Working:

      • This usually indicates a deeper issue with the environment or the solution's configuration.

    • Can't Remove from Source Org:

      • This is problematic. Managed solutions, once deployed, can be difficult to remove without impacting other components.

    •

    Solutions and Troubleshooting:

    1. Identify the Missing Business Process Flow (BPF):

      • Examine the Dependency Error Details:

        • The dependency error message should provide more details about the specific BPF that's missing.
        • Look for the BPF's name or ID.

      • Check the Source Organization:

        • In your source organization, go to Settings > Processes.
        • Filter for processes of type "Business Process Flow".
        • Find the BPF that's causing the dependency error.

        •

    2. Export the Missing Business Process Flow (BPF):

      • Create a New Unmanaged Solution:

        • In your source organization, create a new unmanaged solution.
        • Add the missing BPF to this solution.

      • Export the Unmanaged Solution:

        • Export the unmanaged solution as a managed solution.

        •

    3. Import the Missing BPF Solution into the Target Organization:

      • Import the Managed Solution:

        • In your target organization, import the managed solution that you exported in the previous step.

      • Verify Import Success:

        • Ensure that the BPF solution imports successfully without errors.

        •

    4. Retry Importing Your Original Solution:

      • Now that the dependency is resolved, try importing your original solution again.

      •

    5. Troubleshooting "Add to Use Business Process" Issue:

      • Permissions:

        • Verify that your user account has the necessary permissions to create and manage BPFs in the target organization.

      • Environment Health:

        • Check the health of your target organization in the Power Platform Admin Center.

      • Browser Issues:

        • Try using a different browser or clearing your browser's cache and cookies.

      • JavaScript Errors:

        • Use the browser's developer tools (F12) to check for JavaScript errors in the console.

      • Service Outage:

        • Check the Microsoft 365 Service Health dashboard for any reported outages.

        •

      •

    6. Removing the Solution from Source Org (Advanced):

      • Warning: This is a complex and potentially risky process. Proceed with caution and only if you fully understand the implications.

      • Identify Dependencies:

        • Use the dependency checker in Dynamics 365 to identify all components that depend on the "Businessprocess(1.0.0.0)" solution.

      • Remove Dependencies:

        • Remove or modify the dependent components to eliminate the dependency on the solution.

      • Delete the Solution:

        • Once all dependencies are removed, you should be able to delete the solution.

      • Important: This is not always possible, and it can lead to data loss or system instability if not done correctly.

      •

    7. Microsoft Support:

      • If you're unable to resolve the issue, contact Microsoft Support.
      • Provide them with detailed information about the dependency error and the steps you've taken to troubleshoot it.

      •

    8.

    Key Recommendations:

    • Prioritize exporting and importing the missing BPF solution. This is the most direct and reliable way to resolve the dependency error.
    • Thoroughly test your solutions in a non-production environment. This will help prevent deployment issues in production.
    • Document your solutions and dependencies. This will make it easier to troubleshoot problems in the future.
    • Use solutions effectively. Do not make changes to the default solution. Always create new solutions.

    •

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the dependency error and successfully import your solution. Remember to proceed with caution and consult with Microsoft Support if necessary.

You really only have two options here.

    1) Find a way to get the dependency into your target environment
    OR
    2) Find out what is causing the dependency, and remove it from your solution that you are trying to import

Unfortunately, there are not any good or supported ways to bypass the dependency checks. Is there a reason you cannot import the managed solution into your target environment?
