How do I fix an accidental second closing of the payables module?

We are using GP 10.0. Since the screen did not update quickly, the payables module was closed twice immediately. How do we fix the 1099 amounts?

What can be done if someone did not close the year?   On smartlist reports YTD includes last year for 1099 reports in smartlist reports.    Is there anyway to correct the smart list objects?

By closing it twice it made viewing LYR amounts impossible. I have been able to restore the database and close the payables once this time! Thanks for everyone's help.

    Frank,

Before you take major steps, please verify that there is a problem.  Your initial post asks how to fix the 1099 amounts.  I do not think the 1099 amounts are affected.  I closed the payables on 17 companies this morning so I can see how easy it would be to do the same company twice.  However closing the payables had no impact on the 1099 amounts.  I went into our test system and printed the 1099 edit list before closing payables for the year.  Then I closed the payables for the year and reprinted the 1099 edit list.  There was no change.  Then I closed the payables for the year again so that they were closed twice and still there was no change in the 1099 edit list.

My understanding is that closing payables for the year does not impact the general ledger nor the 1099 reporting.  Closing the payables moves dollar amounts into vendor buckets for vendor reporting by year but has little impact outside of some specific vendor reports.

If 1099 amounts are your major concern then you might not have to make repairs.  The amount of repairs would depend on how much you need specific vendor reports to reflect the correct yearly amounts outside of 1099 reporting.

Restore failed.      Additional information:  SQLClient.SqlError: The tail of the log for the dtabase has not been backed up. Use BACKUP LOG WITH NORECOVERY to backup the log if it contains work you do not want to lose.

What was the problem with the restore? Can you create a dummy company and force the restore over the dumy company. Do have another backup you can try?

We made a backup copy but there was a problem with it. It would not restore so I do not have that option.

Can you roll a backup in? The problem now is that you current year went to last year and then last year got rolled into lifetime to date so now you cannot jut bring last year back without going through the transactions. Restoring from backup would be the simplest solution. If that is not possible, can you create a dummy company and then retore the real compnay over the newly created dumy compnay and then close the year again this time only doing it once. Then you could update the vendor summary table in the production company to the values in the dummy company.
