Sales Comments - Customer Card

Hello:

I am a new Nav user.  Is there a way to have permanent customer specific comments carried over to the sales order?  for example:  I've added a comment to the customer card - Customer ABC Supply - "must call for a delivery apt. 555- 424-5555"  delivery hours are from 8AM - 4PM PST.

I don't want to have to manually add these comments to a new sales order every time I enter an order for this account.  Can this be done?

Thanks in advance.

Regards, MaryAnne

    Hi MaryAnne

    Unfortunately not standard, comments can only be copied between the various documents (S&R Setup screen)

    Your partner however should be able to add this functionality for you as an enhancement

    As stated above, if you want set comments to be automatically placed in the sales header comments per customer then you need to have your partner add the code, unless you have a developers license.

    Now, if you just need them on your picking ticket/packing slip report, that is something you can do.

    We have added a field to the customer tables called "Set Shipping Comments".  We added OnAfterGetRecord of the sales header dataitem.

    IF Customer.GET("Sales Header"."Sell-to Customer No.") THEN

     SetCustComment := Customer."Set Shipping Comments";

    Where SetCutComment is a text variable on the report and the sourceexp of the field.

    See the difference.  You added some shipping/order comments to the customer card.  Now those comments can eventually be filled with 100's of comments.  So if they automatically get sent to every order over time you will see a bunch of non-order related info.   So if this is for "shipping instructions" then creating a new field to hold each customers info if a better approach.

    Or your partner could add a checkbox (boolean) to the customer comments called "Add to Sales Order" or something where you could tick on & off comments you would like to transer to the sales order.

    and if you just need it on the report the solutions is above.

    Perfect.  Thank you so much for the detail responses.  I do appreciate it. I will go back to our business partner and ask them to set this up for us.

    Thank you again, this community board is going to help me greatly.  I do appreciate it.  Have a wonderful day.
