GP 2013 web client - sign in issue

Hello, I do get to the login screen at https://server/GP but am constantly receiving the error, "The user name and password supplied are not valid credentials for using Microsoft Dynamics GP."

I have tried going into the web.config and changing SSL = "false" but still the same. It gives the error no matter what I input as the username/password and I'm not sure why.

I am using SQL Server 2012 with Windows Server 2012.

-installed web client

-installed web service component

-IIS with asp.net

-created self signed cert and binded with default web site

-session central service & session service are both running

I've tried searching blogs/forums/posts on this but could not find anything. Has anyone run into this issue and knows how to resolve it? Any help would be appreciated.

TIA

Jae

    Derek,

You are accessing your financial data from across the web, don't you think there needs to be a domain authentication layer for the users attempting to access an application behind your corporate network?

  • RE: GP 2013 web client - sign in issue

    Hi Derek,

In a nutshell this is because of how the services communicate with each other. I would highly recommend you read the Web Client install guide if you need to more in detail as it has a great deal of information regarding how web client works.

    Hi Derek,

Web Client uses different technology then a regular rich client. Because we are using services. I would highly recommend reviewing the Web Client Install Admin guide to get a better understanding of how Web Client works.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, still learning this system and have a test environment deployed, but can someone explain to me why this is necessary? Why does a user need verify AD credentials, when, if my understanding is correct, the rest of the system has no real connectivity with AD?

This seems like 1 unnecessary step that makes it confusing for the end user.

That's it.  Thanks.  For some reason (read - I missed it in the documentation?), I assumed that logon screen was the GP logon screen.  Now I see that it only 'gets you there'.

I had this same issue. What I was missing was the user needs to be in the domain (setup under Active Directory) with admin right and the user login would be  user@domain.com. Once I used that format for the login name, I was able to get in.

These steps helped.  Got a new certificate, which I bound to the set and got rid of certificate warnings getting on the Sign In screen.

Still unable to sign in...  Then I realized that the old certificate was used during the install of the other web components.  Uninstall Web Client/Reinstall Web Client.  Still the same after: "The user name and password supplied are not valid credentials for using Microsoft Dynamics GP. " message on the Sign In screen.  Will come back to this later - any help is appreciated.

    Hi Guys,

So I was just helping another customer with this similar issue and we were able to find out a few things I thought I would pass on. Depending on how you have users accessing Externally you may have to do one of the following options (this is what I sent to the previous customer as well, please note your configurations could be different):

    1. Users log into your networking using a VPN connection that way their AD information is authenticated and their machine will trust the CA and Cert we used.

    2. The other option is to have the Cert we created imported into each machine and make sure it is in the following stores:

    -Personal

    -Trusted Root Certification Authorities

Also you will need to run through the steps on the following article to uncheck the revocation options in IE:

    blogs.msdn.com/.../enabling-certificate-revocation-check-failure-warnings-in-internet-explorer.aspx

    Let me know the results.

Sorry, haven't had time to respond. I've tried Jonathan's suggestion as well... Still no luck.

I'm having the same issue.  Tried Jonathan's suggestion (delete the session db, recreate) - no change.

We have installed GP 2013 SP1, SQL & Windows Server 2008.
