EFT File Creation - Multiple Addenda Lines

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I'm trying to create an EFT File format in the EDI 820 format in GP 2013.  For an EDI file, there are multiple lines (segments) that make up one detail.  For the EDI 820, I have these segments:

ST, BPR, TRN, N1, N1, ENT

Each of these segments is a separate line.  So I think I need to create multiple Addenda lines.  But I'm not seeing how to do that.  It appears I can only create 1 Addendum line.  See screen-shot below.

Does anyone know how I can create more than 1 Addendum line?  Or if there is a better way I should be doing this?  I could have GP spit out an EFT file and then have another process read that file and create a file in the EDI 820 format.  But it seems cleaner to just do everything in GP.

Thanks for any suggestions you have.

Terry, if there is a pre-defined document that works that might be the best solution.

I would fully support discussing this with your GP Partner to see if they have any suggestions or additional and specific knowledge that can assist you.

If there is anything else we can assist with, please post more details.

I'd already found that KB article you referenced.  My question is how to build multiple Addendum lines?  I select Line Type of Addenda and build a line.  I don't know how to then build a 2nd Addenda Line.  It appears there I can only build 1 Addenda Line.

I tried using another Format (US- IAT NACHA) instead of the User Defined format.  I might be able to get that to work since it has enough Addenda lines.   I'm running into problems with trimming spaces from fields.

I'm going to discuss this with my Partner and see if we should be even trying to build an EDI 820 file from GP.  We may need to go a different direction on this.

    Thanks for your help.

The functionality for addenda lines works differently in different versions of Dynamics GP, so the answer will depend on what version you are using. In GP 10.0, you are able to send only 0 or 1 addenda line per payment. GP 10.0 does not have functionality to include multiple addenda lines for one payment. In GP 2010 RTM, you are only able to send 0 or All addenda lines per payment. However in GP 2010 SP2, additional functionality was added so you can send 0, 1, or All addenda records for each payment by utilizing the newly added checkbox for "Detail Line Addenda" found on the EFT File Format Maintenance window.

More information on this topic can be found in KB 2551488.
