Posting Accounts

I created a new account today, but somehow messed up in the process.  Each time I try to open the acccount through the cards menu I get an error saying "This account is not a posting account."  When I to view>financial lists>accounts the account type field is blank where all other accounts say "Posting Account."  How do I change this account to be a posting account?  Or how can I delete this account and create it again?  Thanks.

You may have created is as a Unit account or a Variable Allocation Account.  Look under Cards -> Financial and open both of these.  Look for your account and delete it.  Then enter it as a normal account.

Thanks for the idea.  However, I tried to open the account through cards>financial> unit account and variable allocation, but I got a message of "This is not a unit account" and "This is not a variable allocation account."  If it is not a posting account, not a unit account and not a variable allocation account then what is it.  Any other ideas?

Do you have access to SQL?  You could run the script on the GL00100 Table.  Find your account and let us know what the value is.

    SELECT ACCTTYPE, * FROM GL00100

    Account Type

    1 is a Posting Account,

    2 is a Unit Account

3 is a Posting Allocation Account

4 is a Unit Allocation Account.

I don't have access to SQL, but I can find someone to take a look at this for me.  I will let you know how this turns out.  thanks again.
