I get the following error message when I try to connect to the SQL Server Unable to open the specified server database (10004) I can connect to it from Management Studio just fine. And the server browser service is started.

    Do you see any logs under Application->EventLog folder?  And how are you connecting from Management Studio? What version are you on?

    Management Studio that came with SQL Server 2008 SP1.
