Is there a way to require a password to remove a customer placed on hold? Currently any user with access to customer cards can place or remove customer holds which is becoming problematic.
Hopefully this is acheivable without VBA customization or additional 3rd party software.
Thank you,
Kirk

Thank you both. I went ahead and added field level security for this field.

Jen's correct in that this is exactly what Field Level Security was designed for. While regular GP security gives or removes access to a window or report, FLS allows you to do things like lock or disable buttons on a window, require a password when a button or process is run and that type of setup.
Other than FLS, there wouldn't be any other way of to require a password to remove a customer placed on hold short of some type of Modifier/VBA or Dexterity customizations.
I can't say whether there are any third-party products out there that may be of use.
Thanks
I would recommend looking at Field Level Security (FLS) for this. It's designed for exactly this type of query.
For example, for this, you may disable that field and assign that "security ID" to the users or classes that shouldn't be able to mark/unmark hold but otherwise doesn't prevent them from using the window. There is also a password option I believe (but I don't have GP in front of me to view the exact Field Level Security item to confirm). Essentially with my first suggestion anyone who shouldn't be restricted just would not have the FLS ID assigned to them.
Note: FLS works differently from regular GP security and the "copy" feature for a user or security won't include FLS so it's always a separate security or user setup step to remember, but it's not a customization either.
Hopefully this helps.
