Usage? Ship Start Date field on Deliver FastTab (Released Products)

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to understand the purpose and behavior of the "Ship Start Date" field (shipstartdate) found in the Deliver FastTab of the Released Products module in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management.

Specifically:

  • What is this field used for in standard (out-of-the-box) D365 functionality?
  • Does it influence any processes related to sales orders, purchase orders, or delivery scheduling?
  • Is it referenced in any standard logic for ATP/CTP, shipping constraints, or product availability?
  • How is this field typically configured or intended to be used?

I've reviewed Microsoft Learn and community threads but haven’t found any official documentation or examples that explain its role.

Any insights, documentation links, or examples would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi DJenkins,
     
    This field is used to indicate when an item can be shipped to customers. It can be used in case of new product releases where people can already pre-order, but have to wait until a specific date when the product is launched. There are several validations on the sales order line entry if e.g. the requested ship date is before the first ship date.

    I'm not able to answer your follow-up question as I haven't used this start ship date field in combination with POS.

    Thanks again Andre. Trying to POC this functionality however so far it has no effect on SO creation, there maybe is a parameter or additional configs needed.
