How to enable field level security in sales order action button in order to disable Post option?

Posted on by 3,235

Hi,

Sales Order Entry window had previously independent buttons for Post, Transfer,..

I used Field Level Security to disable Post button. Now all these buttons are under Actions button. The post button is no more existing while using Field Level Security.

How can I achieve it?

Thanks.

    Ok,

If there are certain users you want to prevent to transaction post, you can use the Modifier  with VBA module to accomplish this type of customization. VBA can read who's logged in. you can write code rules for different groups of users.

    Kind regards,

I want to stop some users from posting a single SOP transaction and from posting SOP batch.

field level security is able to prevent posting the batch for some users but it does not  deal any more with the post button on a single SOP trx as it is not existing.

The users are already using 'Menu Bar' and not Action Bar.

What you suggested in the setting of 'Posting Setup' will be applied for everbody and not for specific users.

    Regards.

Also, you could turn off the ribbon bars and just go back to the old menu items. You would then need to put some field-level security on the option in User Preferences to turn them back on. What functionality were you trying to prevent by denying access to the Actions button?

    Imad,

Not exactly true. The first one will stop everybody from transaction posting. They can still batch post. The second choice will not stop the user from accessing the sales transaction window, they just can't post transactions coming from that window. Neither option will lock user out of the Sales Transaction window itself.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

It can be done easily through a customization.

    Hi Leslie,

Thanks. The posting screen will will stop every body from posting sales transaction.

The second choice will will stop the user from accessing the sales transaction.

    Anyway, thanks again.

    Hi,

As you noticed, the Action button is no longer a physical button on the window, it's more of a command menu item. As such, you cannot use Field-Level security to secure it. Instead, why not take away posting options for the SOP form? If you are just trying to limit transaction posting, you can do that in the Posting Setup window. You can access this window via Administration>Setup>Posting>Posting.

Be sure to select the Sales Transaction Entry origin if this is the only place you want to restrict transaction posting.

In security, it looks like this:

Not as fun as Field-Level Security, but does this help?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
