INACTIVATING "DELETE' BUTTON IN GP SCREENS

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi all -

Is there a way to inactivate the Delete function in screens such as Sales and GL batches? This is on GP 10.0

I didn't find it anywhere in the user security. Also if this can be done at the wider level rather than at the task level as there are too many tasks assigned to roles.

Thanks!

    Hi,

I don't remember the window of that version, but today the checkboxes are on the same window where you put in your registration numbers.

    Hi Diop!

Just to clear up any confusion on my part, can you post a screen shot of your registration window showing Field Security?    If you don't see an option for Field Level security, then as Leslie indicated it would need to be purchased, but you can't purchase modules for GP 10.0 any longer.   The best advice I can provide would be to upgrade your system to GP 2015.

    Sean -

I was looking in the wrong window, but it's not listed when I went to the correct window Tools >> Setup >> System menu. Going back to Leslie's response, does it mean the field service cannot be acquired?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

You cannot buy modules for GP 10 anymore. At some point Microsoft included it with GP, but I cannot remember which version. Also, as Almas said, you will still have to deal with the dialog box that can come up when you close the windows or use the browse buttons to scroll to another record. You can use the Before Modal Dialog routine in VBA to respond to the dialog - like always hitting the Cancel button. You would have to do this on every window, however.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

No, just check the box, log out/in to Dynamics GP and it should be under the System setup menu.

    Hi Sean -

I checked and it's listed but not registered. Does it mean it will have to be purchased?

    Hi Diop -

If you don't see it in the Tools >> Setup >> System menu, then make sure it's enabled in the registration window.

Thanks for the answers! I'm glad to hear there is a way, but where is the field level security? I couldn't find it in this version of GP.

We can apply Field Level security on buttons, but we can not handle events like sales transaction window closing and message pop up asking save or delete the invoice, then user will be able to delete the invoice. Only through customization delete functionality can be stopped for desired GP Window.

    Hi Diop -

You can disable the DELETE button via Field Level Security.   Once you create the Field Level Security ID and assign it to the proper window/field/button you then assign it to the designated user/users.   After clicking the apply button, the action should be instant.
