Our client have requested to setup AR for them but they want to know the difference between Sales batches and invoicing batches i the SOP module. I have researched but have not come up with concrete difference. Can I please get a little insight in this...Thanks

The SOP module is installed but not setup up so sales batches cannot be used? AR is not setup yet but will be soon, if our client can use inviocing batches invoicing needs to be setup along wth AR right.

    Cynthia,

Both Sales Order Processing and Invoice Entry pass transactions to Accounts Receivable.  Sales Transaction Entry processes Sales Batches and Invoice Entry processes Invoicing Batches.  The Sales and Invoicing Batches allow for the storage and handling of transactions entered in their respective modules.

As Frank mentioned the main difference between SOP and Invoice Entry are processing options, support for types of transactions and other enhanced features.

If the client has simple invoicing needs, and straight forward pricing, then Invoicing will typically meet the client's needs.

If the client has complex order to cash processes, complicated pricing requirement or multi-bin inventory needs, then Sales Order Processing with Advanced Invoicing (the modules full name) is the right choice.

Thanks Frank, a client is asking for AR setup and wants to  know the difference. Is sales or invoicing batches useful to creating batches in AR?

    The primary differences are:

    1.  The types of documents available.  With SOP, you get Quote, Order, Fulfillment Order, Invoice, & Return.  In Invoicing, you get Invoice & Return.

    2.  The expanded document types in SOP allow for a variety of options for order fulfillment and shortage handling if stock on hand isn't sufficient to fulfill when the order is placed.  Invoicing offers fewer shortage handling options and no order fulfillment options.

There are other differences but these in my opinion are the real differentiators between the two modules.
