Inherit Financial Dimension in Project Forecast from Worker

Dear Colleagues,

for Project Hour Forcasting we use WBS to create a detailed project plan based on periodic dates as well as on Category and Resource that are staffed.

After planing the WBS the hour forecast is created and with "Transfer from WBS" all lines including the resources are transfered from WBS.

Because the resources are assigend to the WBS Lines I would expect that the Financial Dimension in the Hour Forecast are inherited from the Worker.

But it does not look like this, instead it looks like that the FinDim from project are used.

Did I miss something in the setup or how to get the hour Forecast FinDims created with the Workers DinDims? Background of this to use the hour forecast for a financial and capacity preview for the business units and departments the worker is assigned.

Hi Andreas,

For the costs, by default, the dimensions are taken from the project. If you post hour journals or timesheets, this is also the case. Only the hour offset transaction will use the dimensions from the employee.

If you need a different behavior, you have to consider a customization.

Hello Andreas,

What you describe sounds like the standard behavior. There are some ISV solutions available that allow you defining and changing the findim at the WBS level to circumvent/avoid the issue you mentioned. Might be something to report on the MS ideas site for future enhancements.

I'm not sure, but vaguely, I remember there was a merge code somewhere. Does not get Findim from the worker, even when project's findim is empty?

I tested this case and even if project findims no present, it will not be taken from Worker.
