How can I pop up a new email activity with a pre-selected template?

I want to add a button to the opportunity command bar that allows a user to send an email using a specific email template.  The normal user interaction is to add an email activity and then select the template.  I want to skip this and make it one click.  The template is incomplete meaning that the user needs to complete some information before it can be sent.

    Philip,

    To create email using template you can use : "InstantiateTemplateRequest"

    Put a javascript code to use this "InstantiateTemplateRequest" method on form onload

    Good examples here:

    Then for your ribbon case, you can use RibbonWorkbench as usual

    Then you can use OpenEntityForm function to open the New Email form

    And also configure the custom parameters.

    You can set a parameter that can be recognized only by the ribbon which passing it in and then the email form onload parameter that to indicate that this request is coming from the ribbon, not standard CRM new email record.

    Hi Phillip,

    I am facing the same challenge. I added a button to Command Bar "Send Email with X template", I can associate the JS command with it. Did you succeed with creating and Opening new Email window with specified X Email template in JS for completing and sending /deleting the email manually?
