Accidental Delete of GL Reports

ReportReport

I can't believe I did this but in trying to delete a single report in Report Control Maintenance, I deleted all of them. I was able to add them back in but they are no longer populated with any data. Short of restoring the entire database, is there any other way to fix it?

  • RE: Accidental Delete of GL Reports

Many of the SL reports have some sort of pre-report process that is run to prepare data for the reports.  when you say you were able to put them back, did you go to the control options section and populate that accordingly?  If not, that is likely your issue.

I would suggest you go to DB Update (under Utility if using 6.5 or Administration if using 7.0 or 2011) and browse down to the DB folder under Solomon or SL and then the CSV folder and select rptcontrol.csv and process that to restore the report controls.  that will load all the pre-processor items as well.  However, that process will error will duplicate item issues if there are report controls already defined which means you would have to delete the content of the rptcontrol table in the system database first.  the other caution is if you have custom report controls or modified standard report controls because this process will set those back to the standard format.

You could make a copy of the rptcontrol.csv file out of that DB\CSV folder and take out all but the items for GL (you can see the module column in that file), delete all the GL report controls (like you accidentally did before since you seem to know how to do that) and them use this trimmed down file under DB Update.

One last thought, the report control table is in the system database and not the application database and the system database does not change all that much so you could restore that from a backup without affecting your application data.
