I want to edit the reports design of invoices in CRM Online for send to our customers but we can't do it from CRM interface, I can only edit the data of the report.  Anyway, is there another way to generate invoices in a document?

Thanks.

You can use the reporting services in SQL server 2008. You can download your report, and modify it from SQL server 2008 Reporting Services, then you can upload it again. Make sure not use Arrays in your report (in case you want to create a new one, since in online organization it doesn't accept arrays).

    Hi Antonio,

In deed, CRM UI don't allows reports designing. To do it you should go to Reports, select your report and click on Edit button :

After that, you have to go to Actions > Download Report:

You can download a .RDL (for Report Definition Language) file :

    1715.reports4.png

Now you can open this file with a Visual Studio (with Business Intelligence pack).

If you don't have Business Intelligence pack download BIDS or install SQL Server 2k Client.

Create a Report Server Project like this :

Now try to add your RDL file as an existing Item to Reports :

So it will appear as a Report in the Reports folder :

Now double-click on your report and you can modify his design :

Not at all Antonio, U R Welcome :)

I use Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate, and I don't know really if Express versions allows installing BIDS or not.

But if you have SQL Server 2008 R2 / 2012 installation, you can install (SSRS) client and it automatically install on your machine a specific version of Visual Studio 2008 / 2010 ( VS 2008 for SQL Server 2008 R2 or VS 2010 for SQL Server 2012). And you can use this specific version to edit your reports.

When you download an OOB report from CRM Online, observe that it uses the SSRS reports which are otherwise not allowed in CRM Online. Since the SQL DB is not directly available you can only use FetchXML based reports on CRM Online. Unfortunately this leaves with no option to update and use OOB reports. You'll have to redesign them using FetchXML.

If the purpose is only for distribution in a document format then you can also explore using Mail Merge.
