Is it possible to add a new payment type in GP? The current list is:

PYMTTYPE (Payment Type) in SOP10103:

1 – Cash Deposit

2 – Check Deposit

3 – Credit Card Deposit

4 – Cash Payment

5 – Check Payment

6 – Credit Card Payment.

We are planning to accept gift cards on our web sites (Third party software) so we need a Gift Card type added so we can integrate the payments.  Once the type is created our accounting could attach it to whatever GL accounts the wish.  BTW, we currently use integration manager to integrate our online orders into GP.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't believe that this is possible,

The process is not limited only to the (sales payment work and history) you mentioned.Technically speaking, payments are not only held in SOP10103, if you check the SDK, you will find that the process goes through several steps including the RM tables as well when it comes to "apply"

Getting back to your point, receiving gift card from a customer would still be dealt with as a payment, that's the same as dealing with donations and fundraising.

I had a similar situation where a customer offers accrued sales credits for purchases. I set-up a Credit Card for those type payment applications  marked as accepted by Customers and offset it to the accrual account.  This works great for their process.

Thank you guys for your tips/replies.  What Donnette suggested sounds like a good work around. I'll discuss it with our accounting team and go from there.

    Cheers!
