Cannot match item tracking

Posted on by 265

I have a scenario for a customer

They are using a location with bins. The sales order requires a pick and the items are lot controlled. They are not using full warehouse management.

They have a sales order, let’s say for 3 lines – all the same location.

Item 1 – Qty 10

Item 2 – Qty 10

Item 3 – Qty 10

They create an inventory pick and let the system tell them where to pick it and what lot.

Let’s say

Item 1 – Qty 6 – Bin 1 – Lot 1

Item 1 – Qty 4 – Bin 7 – Lot 43

Item 2 – Qty 10 – Bin 6 – Lot 12

Item 3 – Qty 7 – Bin 3 – Lot 3

Item 3 – Qty 3 – Bin 1 – Lot 3

So, in reality, they change up where they picked it from like

Item 1 – Qty 6 – Bin 14 – Lot 1

Item 1 – Qty 4 – Bin 7 – Lot 43

Item 2 – Qty 10 – Bin 6 – Lot 12

Item 3 – Qty 10 – Bin 3 – Lot 3

When they try to post the shipment, they get Cannot match item tracking

Have anyone seen this?

It seems to me that when the inventory pick is created, it also assigns the item tracking lines to the sales order. However, if the pick list is created but then modified, it doesn’t update the sales order lines and the 2 are out of sync – thus not allowing it to post.

I have done a workaround by deleting the pick lines, go back to sales order, update item tracking and then pull those lines back onto the pick. However, for really large orders, that could take hours.

What is also odd to me is that I just did a new sale order, released it and did an inventory pick. It assigned lots and bins for picking but as of now, there are no item tracking lines on the sales order - when does it write those then. I am even more confused.

Am I missing something?

    Lynn,

Here is my test and flow to answer your question...

I have 1 Item, it can be many, in 2 Bins, Orange Warehouse that is Require Pick and Bin Mandatory:

I know create a Sales Order for this Item quantity = 25. The Bin Code, on the Sales Line, defaulted with the first Bin Code, in Order, the Item was found in:

Create Inventory Pick. I will now select the other Bin to pick from on the document.

MAKE SURE You assign the Lot Number to the Items picked from the Bin, before Post/Ship. Click Line/Source Document Line.

    Hope this helps.
