Close Related Activities of a Record

 Good day people.

I have a simple question.

Is there a way by configuration to close all activities regarding to a record (ie. Opportunity)?, i know that u can cascade configure in case u delete it, share it, etc. and that can be changed in the relationship area of the entity.

But right now when i Close an Opportunity all related tasks, emails, etc are still open in the Workplace, is there a way to close all those open related activities changing configuration? or a plug-In, custom workflow is needed?

Any idea, tip or trick would be greatly appreciated.

 ThanksInAdvance!

    Hi,

One option is an on demand workflow.  You would have to select all the related activities and run this workflow.

Alternatively a plugging could be written to run when an opportunity closes.  The plugging then could see if there are any open activities and if so close them.

Hey Alex thanks for your answer and time =).

In the case of the workflow, u mean create a on demand  workflow for each type of activity right?, or wich entity u select to place and run a workflow for all type activities?

A codeless but process intensive solution would be a workflow on the creation of the activity which waits for the parent close and then follows suit. A more practical solution is likely to be a plugin.

Hey Leon thanks for your time to answer.

That idea of the workflow at the creation of the works great, was just what i needed. The important factor was that i needed it to be automatic and that solved the problem with no coding.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions to both of you.

    Cheers!

    Hi Enrique,

Happy to help. One thing to be careful of with this approach is, if you have lots of opportunity activities in your CRM system, each will have a workflow in waiting. These can bog down the server running the async service.
