Update field based on Value from another entity

I have an entity A (parent) with attributes A1 and A2. In entity B (child), A1, is a look up back to A, I want to be able to update certain values automatically in entity B with A2 is a certain value.

So in B, we select A1 and if looking back to A, A2 is a certain value, then update the fields in B.

I have been looking at a workflow can't quite fathom how to do this.

Ok A1 on A is a text field, A1 on B is a party list with its value contained in A?

Hi Darren,

As you said, A1 on entity B is of type A, can you please give more details so that issue can be better understood?

I have built the workflow as suggested and nothing seems to work. One thing of note though, A1 on entity B is in fact a party list and I am trying to map this back to...?

Hi Darren,

I think workflow should be fine here.

1. Create a workflow on change of A1 field on B entity.

2. Add the condition to check for the field value from the entity A(parent), you will be able to access the fields of parent entity A in the condition.

3. Create the update step to update the field in B entity.
