Removing unmanaged Modification for the Site Map

Hi,

We had an issue that one time we were in a hurry and we did update for the sitemap in the production, now any update for the solution will not do any changes in the sitemap and we had to re-update the sitemap, how can we delete the unmanaged customization, can I do it or I need to open a case with Microsoft

    Hi,

    We can't be sure what was changed or remove unless you kept a track of it.

    But I advise 2 things

    1. If you have a Sandbox environment which had the desired SiteMap, you can take it over the the production.

    2. You can edit the SiteMap from the SiteMap editor in Model-driven apps in Solutions.

    Hi Abdul ,

    Doing any modification directly in any instance , its become unmanaged and you can not revert back to previous instance or vanilla instance . That is why solution concept has been introduce and this is one of the causes to avoid managed solutions until and unless your development completed.  

    When solution packaged as managed the SiteMap XML is compared to the original SiteMap XML and any other customizations made to the SiteMap. Only the differences are included in the managed solution. These differences include items that are changed, moved, added or removed. When the managed solution is installed in a new organization, the SiteMap changes are merged with the SiteMap XML found for the organization where the managed solution is being installed.

    I cant see any hope to about removing unmanaged customization from the instance , but you may follow below steps , might be it will help you..

    - Using XrmToolBox sitemap editor download the sitemap.XML from any new instance/Vanila instance same D365 version.

    - Upload the sitemap.xml in your DEV and PROD environment. This will remove all your sitemap changes from DEV and PROD.

    - Export managed  solution from DEV , include sitemap and import to PROD env.

    - Do changes of sitemap.XML in DEV as per your requirement .

    - Export again managed solution and import to PROD.
