Simply trying to add a title field in contact

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I have been trouble shooting how to add a job title field for when I view contact information.  When I download a v card or input contact information under contacts, the title field is there not when I review all contacts the view does not include job title.    I know I have tried this in the past and had no problem adding a field.    I've tried various suggestions, so either there have been advancements OR possibly no longer have administrative rights to do so, but I would think an error message would tell me so?

Any advice?

    Hi Kathy,

Just to add to Alex's response. If you do not have permissions, you can create a Personal View.

Click on Advanced Find, and select the view that resembles, the view that you want to add your field to.

Click on Edit Columns. This will show you the list of columns that are available in your view. Click on the Add Columns button, and add the Title (jobtitle) field. Press OK and move the column left or right to where you want it in the view.

Once done, click on the ! in the ribbon to see the results. If you get the expected results, click on the Query button again to go back and then Save the View (Save As). You will be able to come back to this view and make changes later if you need.

If you have permission of course, Alex's solution shows you exactly how to do this.

    Hi Kathy,

it's slightly different depending on which view you are trying to update. For example, in the Advanced Find you can click "Edit Columns" and add that column to the view (note that you cannot update system views that way - you can either see the results right away.. or you can save a view as your personal view from the advanced find):

For the system views, you have to have appropriate permissions, and, then, you can follow the instructions in the article below to update those views:
