Hello,

When I am trying to create a CRM lead record from outlook, the form opens in Classic UI. I want to it to be opened in UCI layout. How can we change it?

Not sure if this way I can achieve my requirement, but I tried opening the app designer for Dynamics 365 App for Outlook, selected Lead entity from Entity View, opened properties and under Advanced, there is an option to select Unified Interface. after selecting it, on save, I am getting an error as below. I could not find any satisfactory solution for this error message.

Error Message: -2147155672

Hi PD_0504,

The Dynamics 365 for Outlook (COM Add-in) is designed to work with classic form only. Internally it is the classic web client with forms, so it can not be modified to use new UCI layout. There is also no such configuration option provided. This is by design.

I'll let other people answer this since I no longer have the Outlook add-in installed and cannot be certain.

If I would have to guess:

- set the setting 'show only UCI' to yes

- create a new UCI app with the design you want

- set this as the ONLY available app for the user

Since the user with above settings is only able to access crm through the UCI, creating a new lead here would redirect it to this form.

But, I am not certain of this :).

I would personally really deploy the app instead of the add-in.

Performance increase only would be reason enough.

Most people didn't want the app because you needed SSS for incoming email and nobody wanted auto-tracking of certain emails.

But with the release last weekend the option of 'no emails tracking' was added and (finally) solves that issue.

Hi,

Seeing your screenshots it looks like you have the D365 for Outlook installed instead of the D365 App for Outlook.

The first one is an add-on for Outlook and shows the legacy app (the old school classic interface).

If you want to navigate with the UCI you'll need to deploy the app for Outlook.

Here are the steps:

As CRM for Outlook has been installed, I clicked on Dynamics 365 Record.

Selected Lead from the list.

Below Lead form gets opened which is in Classic UI.

I am not sure whether below approach would be useful to change the layout, but I tried to do –

Open Settings -> My Apps -> Select Dynamics 365 App for Outlook -> Open in App Designer

Selected Lead entity

Go To Properties and select Unified Interface

When I am trying to save it, I am getting one error as below.

The Dynamics 365 App for Outlook should only work in UCI layout, so it's very interesting to hear that it's opening in the classic interface when selecting a Lead. Can you share screenshots of the experience you're seeing, and walk through the steps of how you got there?
