Set field values for a contact that was converted from a lead

Is it possible to set the properties of a contact record that has just been converted from a lead? I have a custom field (on the contact entity) that I want to change if the contact has been converted from a lead, but leave as the default value if the contact was just created manually.

Hi Joel

Yes it is certainly possible. You will need to find the relationship between the contact and lead (under Contact look for N:1 relationships, its called contact_originating_lead I think), open the relationship, then in the Mappings section add the mapping for the custom field you want to map.

Alternatively, you could use a business rule to check if the Originating Lead field is set, and if so, set the custom field to a particular value.

Hi Joel

The relationship between Lead and Contact has a field mapping allowing your contact fields to inherit from the Lead fields on creation. So the value will only map from lead to contact if it was created from the lead, Does this answer your question?

Brad and Raz, yes this helps thank you.

So to confirm... I'll need to create a matching field on the lead entity and form (as it stands, the field only exists on the contact entity). Then map it to the field on the contact form?
