Payable Checks out of Sequence

If for some reason a block of AP checks are never used is there a way in GP 2010 to somehow record that these checks were never used.

I know you can go into settings and change the system starting number so that it doesn't keep defaulting to the numbers no longer available, but we'd like to have a way to explain the reason the block of checks are missing.  (in this case....LOL...a cup of coffee is involved.)  :-) :-) :-)

Thanks!

    Soma,

We do not wish to re-use the numbers.  :-)

We damaged the checks prior to using them and wondered if there was a way to somehow note it in the system so that if someone wanted to know what happened to that block of checks it was documented in the system.  Right now, we have a skip in our check numbers (i.e.: 85388-85500) that will never be used.  They were damaged.

So, we wondered if there was a way to document it in GP why we went from check # 85,387 to #85,501 and not sequential.

    Make sense?

    Thanks.

We can't use the check numbers once it has been issued even though it was voided or damaged. This is the standard functionality in GP.

    Hope this helps!!!

    Soma,

Thank you but that's not our problem.  We actually have destroyed a block of sequential checks and cannot use them again.  We wondered if GP had the capability to note somewhere in the system that these checks are no longer available due to damage.

    Thanks.

May be the check numbers has been locked while building the check batch. If more than one users are used to working on the same time, this is possible to lock the check numbers.

    Hope this helps!!!
