Master scheduling not creating demand for the raw material in AX 2012

Hi I have a critical issue with Production Series.

According to the formula for item xxxxxx, we need 200g of item yyyyy to turn 100g of item xxxxxxx. We have 187.81g of item yyyyyyy. However, a planned production order for yyyyyyy was not generated until the order for xxxxxx was firmed even though the planned order for xxxxxxx had been in the system for a couple of weeks. So this is a fail on two fronts…

AX should have kicked a planned order of yyyyyyyyyy at the same time as the planned order for xxxxxxxx.

The order for xxxxxxx should not have been firmed until we had sufficient raw materials to complete the order.

(I have tried checking the Item coverage group, masterplanning ware house level. The same rawmaterial i have attached to other formula it is creating demand but for specific product it is not generating the demand. In the BOM designer page i have seen a error "No active route versions exists" for raw material YYYYYY.

Note - The demand is not creating for rawmwterial only in XXXXX production series, when we manually run the master sheduling for YYYYYY the system is generating the planned orders but through batch job the system is not generating any planned orders. But when we run for finished good XXXXX the planned order for YYYY is not generating)

Any suggestions please it would be helpful.

The "no route version exists" message in BOM designer view is probably a red herring, irrelevant, likely caused by the selection criteria you have on the "setup" tab of that window.

However, it's possible that if there is a routing selection problem such as a quantity range on the version that doesn't cover the planned order quantity, or different site code, or a resource group used in the route that's different than the site for the planned order, that the MP explosion process could be halted, and this could be preventing lower level requirements from being generated. You'd find evidence of this in the log for the MP run--look for yellow warnings for the parent item and "could not be scheduled" in the explanation, along with "item coverage halted" as the smoking gun.

Hi Shravan - can't see your screenshots but not having a route shouldn't stop the planned production order generating demand for your raw materials. What happens when you do Inquires > Derived requirements from your planned production order, do you see your raw material? If not check that you have an active formula and check the production type of your parent item, and the default planned order type in it's setup. Also, what's the coverage group of the raw material?

    Hi Fredrik,

Sorry for the late reply, here is the culprit which is not generating requirement while running master scheduling.

In the designer form it is showing the "No active route version exists" but actually we have a route.

    Item coverage setup:

    Thanks

Can you also show a screen shot of the associated net requirements with the inventory level going negative and no planned order - the dates and settings Fredrik refers to are critical here. Interesting the demand is only seen at firming, indicating it was not before - even a phantom will dynamically show, so was the item date driven or was the firming a process that altered a critical dimension?

If you're manually running MP for y and it is generating the expected planned production order, then it seems like the culprit is probably the configuration of the batch job. Chances are, it's got a selection/filter set that's excluding item y for some reason. Could be any number of possibilities but that sounds like the place to look. The batch could, for example, only be configured to run for certain warehouses, or coverage groups.

Could you share screenshots from coverage group and Master plan setup?

First I would like to address you process. The firming of a planned order indicates that you are intent on producing the item. You should have then a product ready for planning, now releasing a production order is indication to produce the item. The hand off between planning and execution.

However the system should suggest you purchasing raw materials...
