Emailing Statements: "E-mail status report unknown error"

I would like to send email statements from GP 10, and keep getting the following error: "Could not e-mail status report to Sender. Unknown Error."

I successfully set up email statements on another computer on the network, and I'm not sure why it won't work on this second computer. The computers are running Windows XP and emails are sent through Thunderbird. I have already looked through the steps in the following articles:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934699

http://community.dynamics.com/product/gp/f/32/p/70213/146351.aspx

I've verified that there's a valid email in the Status Recipient field in the Receivables Management Setup window. The dex.ini file has a valid path for EmailStmtStatusPath (EmailStmtStatusPath=
EmailStmtStatusPath=C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop). A MAPI compliant email program is installed. When I run a random report and print to screen, I can click Send To - Mail Recipient (PDF), and an email will pop up with the report attached as a PDF.

When I try to send customers e-mail statements, GP looks like it's generating the statements, with the printer icon popping up in the taskbar. But after a couple minutes, a window pops up with the message: "Could not e-mail status report to Sender. Unknown Error." Then GP asks me where I want to save the RM Email Statements Report pdf. After I save and open the report, the message at the top is "There were errors sending statements." The status for each customer says "Unknown Error." When I check my Sent folder in Thunderbird, nothing has been sent.

I'm really at a loss for what else to do here. Please help!

Go to Tool | Set Up | Sales | Receivables and at the bottom right-hand corner, fill in the email address (NOT AN ALIAS).

Then Under cards | sales | customers, bring up the customer, go to options. At the bottom right-hand corner, turn on Send E-Mail Statements, then enter an email address. The first time you do this, the system will prompt you to enter a path for the system status report. Enter the path, then save it and try sending emails.

    Good luck

Yes, when I print a report to screen, then select Mail Recipient (PDF), the report is attached as a PDF to a new email, and can be sent.

When you try to send a standard report as PDF, is the related email and attachment successfully delivered?

I'm assuming Adobe Report Writer is installed or you shouldn't be able to select the the "Mail Recipient (PDF)" as an option.
