Disable Hot Keys in GP

I have one user at one client who insists that GP is broken. She tells me as she is entering orders the item lookup box keeps appearing. I keep tellng here there are only two ways this happens:

1) You press the magnifying glass when on the item field

2) You press CTRL-L when on the item field

She is convinced that something else is causing this. Now she is only 1 of 20 order takers that has this problem and in all the years since 1993 with Dynamics I have never seen anyone else with this problem for any of my clients.

My thinking right now is to disable the CTRL-L hot key or at least change it to something else. Is there any way to reassign the CTRL-L hot key to something else?

P.S. I would love to have a message box pop that says "I told you so!!!"

    Richard,

You have at least one option here. I'm sure there are more, but this immediately came to mind.

First, a little background. The 'CTRL-L' functionality is built-in, read hard-coded, to Dexterity. What happens when CTRL-L is pushed is that the change script attached to the field to which the lookup button is linked executes. Scrolling windows require a touch more finesse, but enough said on that topic.

You cannot unlink the button, not even with Modifier. You can, however, use Modifier to disable the Lookup.

Using Modifier, set the DisableLookup property of the Item Number field on the scrolling window to True. To do this, pull up the Sales Transaction Entry window. Select Tools>Customize>Modify Current Window. Once the Sales Transaction Entry window opens in Modifier, double click on the scrolling window to open the scrolling window layout. With the layout open, select the Item Number field. In the Properties box, set the DisableLookup property to TRUE. If the properties window is not showing, use Ctrl+M to launch it.

If you want this change to apply only for her workstation, be sure to change her dynamics.set file before you start so that she is pointing to the modified window, and nobody else. You probably don't want to take everyone's CTRL+L functionality away :)

The Lookup button will still look up if it is pressed, it just won't do anything if CTRL+L is used.

    Hope this helps!

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
