Unable to find a receipt in journal

Hi,

I am unable to find a journal entry for a transaction. The purchase history for a customer shows that transaction. But when I try to double click on that transaction, it shows "No receipt".

Is it possible to retrieve this journal entry?

Thank you.

Yes, they are the same.   There are two possible causes,  the transaction does not have an entry in the Journal table, or the entry in the Journal table does not have data in the ReceiptCompressed column.

Why this occurred is hard to know,  Could be someone deleted the entry, could be the entry was never created because Journaling was disabled, or an error occurred while creating the entry (like database size close to the sql server edition limit, or no not enough disk space).

    Hello Ed,

Thank you for the response. Does "No Receipt" and "No Receipt to display" mean the same? I checked again and it shows "No Receipt to display".

I also noticed that there are a few random transactions which have this problem. Since this was in 2012, don't know how to find the root cause of this issue.

    Thank you!

    No

The entry for the receipt is stored in the database.  The message "No Receipt" means the receipt entry does not exist in the database for that transaction.   If it used to exist, then you might be able to retrieve the receipt from a backup.

Receipts are stored to the database when a transaction is finalized if the setting "Journal receipts from this printer"  is enabled.

If that has been enabled, then you are possibly having errors while finalizing the transaction.
