Dynamics.set file created incorrectly

We recently installed Dynamics GP on a new computer. The dynamics.set file was created, but the paths to the dictionaries contained references to servers that no longer exist on our system. The server install and all of the workstations have correct .set files. My question is where does the information that goes into the .set file come from during a new install?

Looks like you are in good hand with Sandip and Richard.

Sandip is correct. If someone created a GP package file and you installed from that package file it will use those settings. If this is the case, I would delete that package file and create a new one this time with the correct server names and location of dictionaries.

Did you use Client Installation which was already created from original setup?

    Thanks

As far as I can tell, we only ran the install file right from the Dynamics GP site. But I will check and see if the other person involved ran something different.

Quick question - did you use or copy any portion of the installation from another computer?

I have seen instances where the PATH for the server - report locations - is taken from the installation pack used when the 'first' installation was created.

Not sure that this works for you - but we have as a fast fix - simply copied the .set file from a working system over to the new computer installation.
