Hi
Looking for certainty on this. I believe you cannot have two separate D365 Finance instances with seperate codebases (customizations) in a single tenant. I know you can have partitions and i know CE / Sales can but this is specifically finance.

TIA

    Hi,

In LCS, you can have only one PROD per Project. You can have multiple PRODs in the Power Platform.

I have seen multiple PRODs in LCS (each under a different LCS Project).

When it comes to Finance, multiple PRODs mean more trouble (more effort to consolidate the financial reports at the end of every month and at year-end). At the end of the day, you would want data from all PRODs in one place for consolidated reporting needs.

Moving on to your second point, you can have two different PRODs with two different customizations. In the past, I worked with a customer that was a group of companies (more than 100 companies). Some of those used Dynamics 365 F&O, some of those used SAP. Every company was in a different industry and had different customizations. Some companies (own production system, separate tenant and LCS Project) had their own customizations. Some companies (x number of companies) were using a shared/single instance of Dynamics, under a single tenant (with the same codebase and customizations).

Now, what you are trying to set up, remains unclear, as you have not shared any details,

You can have multiple Production instances on the same tenant, each will need it's own LCS project, see here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/fin-ops-core/dev-itpro/get-started/implement-multiple-projects-aad-tenant

    Thanks

The link you provided is for D365 Commerce I know there are many ways to have multiple projects I was trying to be sure specifically for D365 Finance

This is the same for all applications based on Finance and Operations. The platform is the same even if it's now officially split to different applications such as Commerce and Finance. I also have a client with two production Finance/SCM environments, one in Europe and another one in Asia.

The link definitely applies to Finance, there is crossover with Commerce as Martin says, but there are always clues:

    Good luck,
    Anthony
