Dong,
I want to add onto what Steve has written. I have, in my 21 years implementing NAV/BC, had maybe 2 customers who stated we have over 750,000 Items. I know there is no limitation creating the 1.5 million items. What would be my concern is the processing, productivity, and administration. Steve's replied noted you should identify purchased and sold Items in the last 12 months. I have used 24 months in all my implementations. In fact, I recently did one for a clothing manufacturer who had almost 480,000 Items, of which a 1/3 were discontinued.
I am not sure if you are a distributor or manufacturer or both but you need to segment your 1/5 million Items into groups:
1. Discontinued - Meaning you are not purchasing them or manufacturing them
2. Purchases and/or Sales made within the last 24 months
3. Future Items to be sold in the upcoming Year/Season
One thing to consider when loading such a large number is that if you did bring 1.5 million Items into BC, you would have to use filters off the Item List and in a Configuration Package for export or editing in Excel. This is because Excel has a limit of 1048576 rows.
One last note, I am a big proponent of Vendor Catalog and Pricing and Steve's recommendation to use the Vendor Catalog is a must and I always implement this for all my customers. It is a great feature and help immensely with PO entry.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Steve
Hi Dong,
Technically, there is no limit to the number of items you can store in Business Central.
However, it would be best if you carefully considered the items that you import, and NOT import all of your existing items. 1.5 million items might cause performance issues on some pages or reports.
Some recommendations:
1. Query your items and identify the items that have been purchased or sold in the last 12 months. That list of items is hopefully much smaller than 1.5 million. Import those as Items in Business Central.
2. Next, query the items that have been purchased or sold in the last 13-24 months. If you think those items may be used in the coming year or two, you can optionally import those as "Catalog Items". Catalog Items will not clutter up your main Item list, but those Catalog Items can easily be converted to items if they are needed.
If your company sells items from vendor catalogs, you can also load those vendor item lists into Business Central as Catalog Items.
Here is more information on Catalog Items:

(thanks to Jeremy Vyska for the tip on Catalog Items: twitter.com/.../1352340777779793921)
Hope that helps.
Hello,
I am not aware of a specific limit.
Thanks.
