Exact logic of Associated opportunity view

I’m working with the Associated Opportunity View on the Company (Account) form, and I’ve noticed some limitations:

  1.

Opportunities that are directly associated with the Company (i.e., Parent Account = Company) are visible as expected.

  2.

However, opportunities that are linked through a Contact (for example, the same Contact exists under the Company and is also referenced on the Opportunity) are not visible in the Company’s opportunity list.

  3.

Additionally, not all opportunities are surfaced in the view — it seems that certain closed opportunities are excluded.

  4.

Our requirement is to have the Company form show all relevant opportunities:

  •

Opportunities directly tied to the Company, and

  •

Opportunities tied through a Contact belonging to the Company.

  •

Has anyone implemented or customized this behavior? Is it possible to extend the Associated Opportunity View to also include opportunities linked through related Contacts, or is this something that requires a custom view/subgrid setup?

Thanks in advance!

Exact logic of Associated opportunity view
You cannot directly modify the out-of-the-box Associated Opportunity View to include opportunities linked through Contacts. This view is controlled by the standard relationship between Account and Opportunity (Parent Account field).

Here are the common approaches used to meet your requirement:
    > Create a custom view for Opportunities that uses an advanced find query with OR conditions:
         • Parent Account equals the current Account
         • Contact’s Parent Account equals the current Account.
This will return opportunities related directly or indirectly through contacts.

    > Add a custom subgrid on the Account form and point it to this new view. This allows users to see all relevant opportunities in one place.

    > If you need to include closed opportunities, make sure the view filters include all status values (Open, Won, Lost).

    > If you need this logic available elsewhere (dashboards, reports), consider using a Power Automate flow or a calculated field to mark opportunities as “related” to an account when linked through a contact.

    Thanks
