Microsoft Dynamics 2015 Update 0.1 to 0.2 - List Component Issues

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

Hello,

I'd like to find out if any other users have had this issue before and are willing to share their solutions.

Products involved:

Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2015 On-Premise 0.2

Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013 On-Premise

Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2015 List Component for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 and Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013. Running with the "Based on: Account" setup. (Activities etc. Sub-folders are under the Account Catalogue)

Here's a breakdown of the issue at hand:

Microsoft Dynamics 2015 On-Premise Environment at 0.1 - The List Component was semi-working at this point. Had an issue where after Uploading a file through CRM, the file wouldn't be accesible from the SharePoint iFrame (In CRM) until refreshing the record and thereby having to navigate back to "Documents" after landing back on the Customer Form from the refresh.

Microsoft Dynamics 2015 On-Premise Environment at 0.2 - This patch was an absolute nightmare. First off, all JavaScript functionality went hay-wire. Sub-grids were not loading on Forms, countless script errors in the Developer Tools Console and little to no information Online about how to solve this issue. Finally ended up solving this issue by adding a rule in the web.config file.

So back to the original issue, the List Component is running at 30% functionality at best now that the Environment is updated to 0.2.

-Extreme Loading Times.

-Can navigate to Sub-folders, still can not open files in SharePoint iFrame (In CRM). The Open SharePoint button is working fine though.

-Sometimes the iFrame will not Load at all. The following Script is causing this issue.

SCRIPT5007: Object expected

SPGlobal.js (1,93429)

Solutions I've found:

https://community.dynamics.com/crm/f/117/t/180285

Summary of this solution:

-One person solved it by re-installing the List Component after Updating to 0.2.

-Another person solved it by installing the 2016 List Component for their 2015 Environment.

Does anyone else have any other solutions or comments?

I am one of the posters on one of the threads you referenced.  With the CRM 2016 List Component on our CRM 2015 update .2 on-prem environment with SharePoint 2010 at least the menu buttons work that allow you to choose a new document type and stuff but the document grid is slow to load for us as well.  I can deal with that for now but now we have run into an issue where IE11 doesn't show the scroll bar in the list component so if you have more files/folders than can fit on the page, there is no scroll bar in the control to see all the files. You have to use the 'Open in SharePoint' button to get a native browser window.  Any other browser, including IE11 in IE10 Doc mode renders the scroll bar fine.  Figures.

I have an open case with Microsoft now.  The first thing they asked me to do was to go back to using the CRM 2015 List Component, once I confirmed the activation error that exists as others have found they sent me an updated link to a new version of the CRM 2015 List Component for SharePoint 2010.

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=45018

Not sure why they haven't killed the link to the old one that is broken.  The lack of scroll bars with IE11 exists in the updated CRM 2015 List Component. It may be worth confirming if the link above has the exact same component version that you have?  I had to extract the download and then noticed a slight file size difference in the .wsp file from the original CRM 2015 list component I had downloaded and the one linked above.  Maybe they updated the CRM 2015 one for SharePoint 2013 as well in there?

Sorry not much help here - if anything of potential value comes from my support ticket, I'll post back here.

    Hi,

do you have further news for this issue? I ran in the same issue with CRM 2016 Update 0.1 and List Component 2016.

    Thanks

No update from me on this issue unfortunately.  I have a case (REG:116042814019608) with Microsoft about IE11 and Edge not rendering the SharePoint list component correctly (scroll bars missing so unable to view all files without clicking the 'Open in SharePoint' button) but they don't have a fix.  The load time for the list component is lousy as well. At this point, I have very little confidence anything will be done to fix this with Microsoft reiterating their stance that the list component is deprecated.

Any update on this issue? We have the same issue on CRM 2015 on-prem and SharePoint 2013.

Any update on this issue. Am experiencing the scrolling issue. As well, the iframe does not automatically refresh after uploading a new file or folder.

We are using the 2016 List Component with SharePoint 2013.

    Hello,

Sorry but no, we never did find a solution for it. It's all about Server-side sync now. The list component is depricated and no longer supported by MS Support so there is really no point in trying to create a Case about it either unfortunately.

I've pretty much abandoned any hope that Microsoft is going to enhance or fix the integration between CRM on-prem and SharePoint on-prem.  Two different teams with a singular goal of driving you to their online services.

For the scrolling issue in IE11, I just went ahead and enabled the IE11 Enterprise Mode with a site list file in our sysvol that loaded CRM in IE10 document mode.  Not ideal but it works for us for now.

Oh, well that's interesting. I didn't even think to try that. When it's loaded in IE10 it works as intended. Would you be able to expand on how to force a particular website to load that way?

*update: well, it kinda works. the scrolling behavior works, but the refresh is still a problem.

On a side note, have you had success using the server-based integration?

Sorry to be "that guy" and simply link you somewhere broad but it does a pretty good job I think.  It's what i used to come up with our solution.

    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/itpro/internet-explorer/ie11-deploy-guide/enterprise-mode-overview-for-ie11

Essentially I just made the registry change on a few test clients to load the site.xml file from a central location.  In the site file was the reference to load the crm page in IE10 doc mode.

*EDIT* - I never noticed the page not refreshing issue.  Sorry to hear that, none of our users complained about that so thats news to me. :(
