Question on setting up eConnect and SQL

Hello,

I am trying to learn about how econnect and sql works. I assume in econnect I have to enter the sql connection info so it can access it. The SQL I wanted to use is on a hosted server which I can access through management studio. So it accepts remote connections. So would this work? Or are there other requirements that may keep me from using that sql that I won't be able to change?

Thanks,

Warren

RE: Question on setting up eConnect and SQL

    Dim _SQLConnectionString = "data source=[SQLSERVER];initial catalog=[COMPANY DB];integrated security=SSPI; persist security info=False;packet size=4096"

    Cheers!

RE: Question on setting up eConnect and SQL

Thanks everyone for the replies and links. I have been going though and reading them and learning more as well. I guess my issue is this. I saw screens for setting up the sql server for when you install econnect and it prompted for the type of connection and the server name, etc. But I was told that when I actually use econnect in my .NET code that the connection between the econnect and the sql server must be trusted. They said I cannot use a login for the sql connection. Is this true?

Then I saw where I could install this web service to use between econnect and the sql server. Maybe I can add the sql connection string with the login in it and it will work. I won't get a chance to try until next week. Anyone know about this?

    Thanks!

No brief answer could simply fulfill the need of your question. Therefore, I would recommend to check the reference posted previously MS Dynamics World, which is a series of Three Articles covering this issue. Your specific point might be found of the third article regarding SQL.

    2. Part Two
    3. Part Three
    Hope this helps,
