GP2015R2 install to Windows 2008R2 RDP server with Office 2016 64bit

Hi

Trying to install GP 2015R2 to a Windows 2008R2 RDP server with Office 2010 installed on it and we are getting 3 errors stating that the following dlls can not be installed - apc65dll, mtdsr.dll and vba6mtrt.dll

The install fails and 'rolls back'.  Other clients and 32 bit servers are ok.

Any suggestions.

Thanks

Michael

    Hi Michael,

The first thing I would look into is any potential permissions issue.

After that I would probably try manually registering the dll files using regserv32 in syswow64.

    Regards,

    Kirk

    Hi Michael,

May I ask you why you selected the Office 64-bits setup for your RDP server ? because your OS runs 64-bits doesn't mean you have to install MS-Office in 64-bit mode too... Dynamics GP is a 32-bit application and as such rather prefers to deal with a 32-bit version of MS-Office... you're less likely to run into issues with that..

BTW, Microsoft has notified that there are some limitations with the Office 64-bit setup :

    Microsoft
    Office

    Microsoft Office 2013 32bit & x64
    Microsoft Office 2010 32bit & x64
    Microsoft Office 2016 32bit & x64 (Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015 R2 or later)

    NOTES:
    1. If using Office x64, the server type in System Preferences
(Microsoft Dynamics GP | Tools | System | Setup | System
Preferences) must be set to Exchange.
    2. The Exchange server type only supports XPS and DOCX. PDF is
not supported with the Exchange server type.
    3. If using Office 32bit, the server type in System Preferences can
    either be MAPI or Exchange
