What Security Role Is Needed To Remove Printing Pop-Ups Like Journals?

In the link above this user describes how to disable the printing pop-ups individuals often see when posting journal entries for example. Most of my users are able to do disable these fine as they have Power User permissions, but I have one individual who has more restricted rights. Among the tons of security roles, is there one or several that I can give this user so that she can choose to remove certain popups?

What do you mean by Pop Ups? Do you have a third party product that does this? Could you give us a screenshot of a 'Pop Up". If you're referring to the print dialog that comes up, you need to add a line in their Dex.ini file that says NoPrintDialogs=TRUE.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

Thanks for your reply Leslie. The pop-ups I am mentioning in the last sentence are what I mention in the first sentence; printing dialog boxes. So when an individual is trying to post a journal entry, they receive a printing dialog box to which they cancel, then the same printing dialog box comes back up, cancels again, popups up again then cancels for a total of four times. Using the guide linked in the original post I was able to find the area to disable the printing popups for the certain windows/areas this individual wants (GP - > Tools - > Setup - > Posting -> Posting). I can have her look into the dex.ini file setting you mention although I'm not sure if that will 100% fit her needs and she may need to print from a few areas still, just not the posting journals area mentioned above.

    Thank you!

    Hi CRMUser12,

If you set the reports in the posting setup window to 'not ask' which is done by unmarking the question mark column, the pop-ups will not 'popup' and the reports that you have enabled alone will print straight to the printer or the screen based on what you selected in the posting window.

Ren - right I get that part (see the link in my original post). What I'm trying to say is that one of my users can't click Save in that window due to insufficient rights. My other GP users can click save there but they have the POWER USER security roles. I can't give the one user in question the POWER USER security role, instead I have to go more granular with some of the options GP provides. That's where I was asking which granular role should I select

What do you mean they cant click 'save'? Are they printing to file?

Or do you mean they cannot save on the posting setup window?

That individual is not allowed to save on the posting setup window after unchecking the areas she doesn't want to see the printing pop-ups

Got it, I have to check and advise, unfortunately, my VM just crashed. Will let you know once I get it back up.

It would be something in the ADMIN_COMPANY_007* task.

    Hi,

Did the dex.ini switch of ShowPrintDialogs=FALSE not work for you?

Leslie, thanks for sticking with this. Please see my initial reply to you on the DEX.INI suggestion. I'm hesitant to put that in place because there is one small area she still needs to be able to print in. She wouldn't need to print 95% of her work in GP, but I don't want to hinder that 5% if she does. Sorry!

Thanks Ren. I'll give her that and see if that's what she needs.
