Data import fails in CRM Online 2015 : An error has occurred

Hi,

I am trying to import data (through CSV or Excel files) on CRM Online, and it fails.

I got a generic error : An error has occurred. Try this action again. If the problem continues, check the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Community for solutions or contact your organization's Microsoft Dynamics CRM Administrator. Finally, you can contact Microsoft Support.

I had tried different solutions :

1) Different import format (.xls, .xlsx, .csv)

2) Testing the import of different entities

3) Delete all rows of the file and keep only one record to import (with simple data)

And the size of the file is less than 8 MG. I has search on the Community Portal and haven't found a solution.

Can you help me?

Thanks!

Hi AFournier, I would recommend opening a ticket for this. There are a lot of variables that could be causing the issue. Support would be able to look a little deeper at what could cause the issue.

Outside of big break the key issues reside in Field naming not matching, security not set right (if owner of the import is not Sys Admin), and entity relationships if you are importing more than one entity at a time, like opportunities and accounts. The accounts need to exist before they can be listed on the opportunity. Try getting data into exported template from CRM and see if that works. If that does not work, then it is data or CRM bug. If that does work, then it is the file being used.

    Hope this helps.

Try to import a single record with few attributes on your environment and another instance of online environment. Like that way you can find issue is with your environment or not.

    Thanks,

Thanks! Yes, it helped a lot. I was not Sys Admin. Before I left for a maternity leave, I was Sys Admin. I has returned to work a couple of weeks ago, and I didn't know that they changed my security role while I was away. It now works!

One of my users get's this error message once in a while.  The import will work for about 2-3 months, then all of a sudden stop.  Then after a couple of days, it will work again.  Has anyone figured out what the root cause could be?

I had the same issue. We removed the "Modified On" column since this is system field and it worked.
