System Message 5044

I’m upgrading a client from SL7.0 to SL2011FP1. There are four companies involved. Three have gone fine. The fourth give me a “system message 5044 when accessing database unable to find tables appropriate to the system or application database” message when I try to access it. The database name (SLApplication2) appears to be fine in both the domain and company tables.

Anyone else seen this before?

In Database Maintenance, when you select the system db on the Update Database Tab, can you see all the db's in the Databases box? If so, your System db is probably ok. I think I would try doing an Update Views on that database. If that doesn't work, rerun the Synchronize All Ownership option, then update views again.

If you cannot see the four db's, then I would double check the server and db info in the Company and Domain tables.

Butch, I can see all the db's. I've tried update views both before and after syncing ownership. Still unable to connect.

Shot in the dark here ... Is it in single user mode?

Run ALTER DATABASE SLApplication2 SET MULTI_USER

Nope, this was one of the first things I checked, Butch. But good idea!

    Hi Stuart,

I would try running a SQL Trace while getting the error. I am included a link below for a template to use. From the link you will be able to download a template for SQL 2008, 2008 R2, and 2005. Unfortunately there is not a KB article for SQL 2012.

For running the trace please download the template that matches you SQL server and import it into the SQL Profiler. Then you will want to start a new trace and select the template that was just imported. Once the trace start, replicate the error then stop the trace.

You will be looking for anything that is permissions related.

Thanks, Cory. Resolved this yesterday by deleting the contents of the glsetup.zp field. Adam Leonard helped me out on another thread.
