Need advice for best practice mapping CDS - F&O

Hi guys,

Just need some advice on how is the best practice on creating entities in CDS which later will be used for F&O integration. Thing is in every entity, there is always field : Name as the key. Should use it or better create another field which represent exactly the field in F&O ?

For example this picture of two entities : Sites and Warehouses :

I personally preferred Option 2, but it will looks like the field Name in CDS entity useless. But in term of clear mapping, option 2 is more clear.

Thanks.

V

    Hi V,

What entities do you want to create in CDS and for what purpose?

Would be great if you could provide some more information on the business process and what you plan to do.

    Many thanks,

    Ludwig

    Hi VoltesDev,

You mentioned "for F&O integration". What exactly do want to integrate? If it is from an external application, then I wonder if CDS should be in between or not.

If you need CDS, you can also have a look at the virtual entity option which will be released for preview this month (expected): docs.microsoft.com/.../finance-operations-entities-common-data-service-as-virtual-entities

as Andre and Ludwig ask, what is the business need?

CDS entities might not mirror exactly as entities in F&O hence a map would always be needed

    Hi V,

You might consider these article and TechTalk recordings when it was also covered the integration part between D365FinOps and Common Data Service (CDS). The examples that were shared could help you.
