I have shown the problem to a Microsoft and they have opened a Bug case on it. It currently occurs in version 10 and 2010 for sure. If you look at the windows the user has open, you most likely will find a print box open asking for number of copies. It seems that this window being open and not the selected window causes this issue.
Did you ever find the cause or resolution to this problem? I have a user that seems to be having the same issue.
I have a good number of customers running v10 on Citrix with no issues. What build number of GP are you running? Can you try what I suggested initially?
Do you have a forms dictionary? If so, try editing the path within the DYNAMICS.SET file to point it to a location where there is no forms dictionary. Return to GP and try the editing the batch ID field. If you end up with no issues, it means you need to recreate your forms dictionary.
In fact, did you perform the upgrade of your forms dictionary during the upgrade process?
John, I've never seen this behavior but are you on service pack 3 for GP10? If not, perhaps updating to SP3 would resolve the issue.
